How a road trip can foster family communication

For anyone who has seen the movie “National Lampoon’s Vacation” you know that a family road trip though challenging at times ultimately brings a family together. Perhaps it’s being trapped in a car for 15 hours together or having to share the last bag of Oreo’s, but there is something about being on the open road that breeds camaraderie.

For those of us that live in the fast paced world of cell phones, TV and iPods finding family time is quite the task. Anyone with kids knows that the family dinner hour has turned into eating a sandwich on the way to soccer practice and ready-made-meals after 9pm. Our society has lost it’s leisure. The ability to slow down and smell Read the rest of this entry »

The world versus gay people – Part 1

Gay fashion photographer Ga tan has been held in jail in Bombay,India, since January 13.If convicted he risks 5 years imprisonment, a sentence which as a Westerner he will most probably not survive.

He is accused of having forced two handsome, young Indians into posing nude.Ga tan strongly denies the charges, stating he only did so in order to please his would be models.

It is indeed most unlikely that he could have been able to use physical force against two healthy young men. It is moreover unlikely that he would have done so,as he could have damaged his future models. India being a prudish, not to say puritanical society,it is however most likely that money has changed hands, in exchange for Read the rest of this entry »

Gay Internet dating tips

In this present age of on-line everything, it’s no surprise that it no longer surprises us when two people meet on line. In the gay community, on-line hook-ups and dating have long ago left the world of the desperate personal add, and have actually become the mainstream, perhaps to the point where some gays find it weird to actually meet someone in person before chatting to him on line. It’s become so common, that sometimes gay men and women forget that there is some risk involved. Beyond the issue of safety, there is also the chance of simply meeting someone who just isn’t as good in person as he or she seemed on-line, and of course the risk of a Read the rest of this entry »

The world versus gay people

The very title of this section depicts what is wrong with the mindset of gay people and the world. There is no Royal Rumble in society with the straight population ready to pounce on gay people over holy matrimony rights. There is no cause for gay people to be always defensive of their lifestyle either. The main reason this mindset exist is because a portion of the gay population needs to be “in your face” with their lifestyle while a portion of the “world” population have lacked the education to understand they will not be kidnapped and force into a lifestyle they don’t support. Once these two barriers can be overcome, the standoff at high noon Read the rest of this entry »

Why do people judge gays and lesbians

People judge gays and lesbians in a negative way because of the way society, lawmakers and the media depict their actions. They will not entertain the idea that being gay is not a choice, but chemistry within you.

When I was a teenager AIDS was a new, hot topic. Everyone judged the victims of AIDS before they even knew who they were. They had AIDS and therefore they were either gay or slept around a lot. Not one person discussing where AIDS came from would take in to consideration that years ago tattoo needles were reused. It was not accounted for that blood was not tested for such a disease prior to a blood transfusion.

I had even heard at one point Read the rest of this entry »

Creating an Interesting Gay Personals Ad

The art of attracting eyes has reached a new height in the age of advanced advertising. There was a time when simple ads were created based on complete information but the ideas have taken a curve in the contemporary gay personals advertising. They are more indirect (not compromising on the information), witty and more interesting. Apart from plain information it has become a form of entertainment as well. A look at Chicagos gay community

Being the third largest city by population in the U.S., it is no surprise that Chicago has a large, strong, and healthy gay community. Aside from the fact Chicago is a great place for anyone to visit, or even live, for an LGBT person it seems like this was a city tailor made for them. Of course the weather could use some help, but that is another issue completely.

Chicago has long been a city which embraced it’s gay community, that isn’t to say it is all open arms, but for the most part the LGBT and straight communities co-exist seamlessly. There are few doors which are intentionally closed to the LGBT community aside from gay marriage at this time. The Read the rest of this entry »

The best European travel tours for singles

When I first announced to friends and family in the summer of 2007 that I wanted to go to Europe for Christmas – alone – the response was always the same. “What?!? Alone?!?!? Aren’t you afraid?”

I admit I was initially a little apprehensive, I didn’t want a European tour that would involve changing hotels every night or two, or one where I would have to share a room and/or bathroom with a complete stranger. But I had looked at river cruises with Uniworld, a company that came highly recommended by a good friend, and after researching the options and their reputation, I felt confident that it would be the perfect holiday for me.

With Uniworld river cruises, Read the rest of this entry »
